Detectives want to speak to the woman, who visited a "person of interest" in the case — BULLETBELT frontman Timothy Parlane — the night before Matthew Hall was murdered.
Parlane was hit and killed by a train near Kaiwharawhara on March 5, before police had finished questioning him.
He used to sing in the band BULLETBELT and "took his music very seriously", Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Thornton said. His death was not suspicious.
BACKYARD BURIAL frontman Matthew John Hall, 35, who went by the stage name "Blaps Warmonger", was found dead with multiple stab wounds by his roommate at his Wellington apartment on February 15.
BACKYARD BURIAL released its debut album, titled "Symptoms Of Psychopathology", in 1999.
